This math workshop series class will focus on basic subtraction. Perfect for learners who are just beginning to learn to subtract.

This one week class will focus on learning how to do basic subtraction. Each day there will be one 5-10 minute mini-lesson put in the classroom at 6:00 am EST, along with guided practice for the skill of the day. After class students will have activities to show their proficiency in that skill therefore a printer is necessary.

Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Subtraction and counting backwards from 20Lesson 1 will focus on counting backwards from 20 while creating a rocket ship to be used as a reference tool for the rest of the week.Lesson 2Subtraction within 10 using manipulativesLesson 2 will focus on using a ten frame and math manipulatives to subtractLesson 3Subtraction from 10 counting backwardsLesson 3 will focus on solving equations by counting backwardsLesson 4Subtracting from 20 using a number lineLesson 4 will focus on subtraction using a number line.Lesson 5Review and extension activitiesStudents will be review what we learned during the week and and extra practice worksheets and extension activities will be provided.
