Tutoring sessions are tailored to your student's needs and abilities. Preferred topics can be selected by the parent or student in advance of the tutoring session, with assignments given in advance and reviewed during the session. - "A Story of Ratios" from the EngageNY common core math curriculum provides the following framework for teaching math concepts. We can start anywhere depending on what your student is comfortable with and what they need to know next. Math 6: Ratios and Unit Rates; Arithmetic Operations Including Dividing by a Fraction; Rational Numbers; Expressions and Equations; Area, Surface Area, and Volume Problems; and Statistics. Math 7: Ratios and Proportional Relationships; Rational Numbers; Expressions and Equations; Percent and Proportional Relationships; Statistics and Probability; and Geometry. Math 8: Integer Exponents and Scientific Notation; the Concept of Congruence; Similarity; Linear Equations; Examples of Functions from Geometry; Linear Functions; and Introduction to Irrational Numbers Using Geometry.
