Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 6
Students will have my full attention during this one on one math tutoring session. The topic covered will be determined by the student's needs so two days before class, I require that parents send me information on the grade level and instructional level of their child (these may be different depending on the student) and the skill that requires attention. I will also need any information that will help me best reach a student who requires specialized instruction (behaviors, learning disability, autism, math-phobic, anxiety, extra response time...) so that I may work more effectively with your child. I expect students to try their best during class and to be polite. Students should enter class on mute and with their video on. I also expect students to keep their videos on throughout the class so that I can see their work and gauge facial expressions for frustration. Students should be able to take notes and follow my instructions unless other modifications are required, in which case, I will provide notes and modify content to meet their needs.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents! I am a retired Special Education Teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching grades 3-8 in all subject areas. I am dual certified with a BS/MS in Special and Regular Education in preschool through grade 12. At OutSchool, I offer educational classes in math that are engaging and geared toward the students in the class. I usually work with grade 3-7 students and provide a variety of math classes from private tutoring to group classes and camps on multiple skills, as well as single skill classes such as order of operations, algebra, integers, liquid measurement, and many many more! If necessary, I also modify my classes by scaffolding material for the different levels of students I may have. I am my students' biggest cheerleader and use humor to take the fear out of learning material that may be difficult. Everyone will learn!
I love teaching and want my students to enjoy learning. In addition to teaching, I love gardening and reading, my 2 adult children, Gina and Ryan, and my crazy dog, Luna. She just may show up from time to time in my classroom! I also own my own business working with parents and children on ways to manage stress, whether it's school-related or life-related, and I teach Reiki to adults.
