US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Intermediate Level
Is your learner interested in learning math “the fun way” by participating in hands-on activities? If so, this is the perfect class to join. Students will have the opportunity to practice and learn various math skills using one of their favorite items as manipulatives…candy! Learners will collect data by using M&M candies to estimate, sort, count, tally, and to create a bar graph. They will then use the data to make comparisons, to add and subtract, and to create and answer their own question related to their graph. Segments of the book More M&M's Math by Barbara Barbieri McGrath will be shared throughout the lesson. Worksheets will be provided as an attachment for students to organize and record their data and each step will be modeled and explained clearly. And, of course, learners will get to eat their M&Ms by playing a subtraction game called "Empty the Candy Bowl". What a sweet way to end an engaging and meaningful lesson!

Hi, my name is Mrs. G. I live in Pennsylvania with my husband, two children, and two huge Maine Coon cats.
My favorite subjects to teach are math, reading, writing, health, and cooking. I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in elementary education K-6th and obtained a master's degree in education from Saint Francis University. I am also certified to teach health and physical education in grades K-12. I have enjoyed teaching at the elementary level for 12 years. I substitute taught in all elementary grades and was a classroom teacher in grades 1st, 3rd, and 4th. I also was an academic coach with a focus on best teaching practices and technology integration. In this role, I collaborated with teachers and co-taught students in grades 3-6.
I believe that making learning fun in the key to keeping students engaged and interested in each lesson. This is often accomplished through hands-on learning, games, and other activities that motivate students. My goals are to create a positive learning environment that makes learning personal and meets each learner's needs.
My hobbies include reading and discussing books with my book club, running and hiking, and cooking meals for my family. I love spending time with my husband and children, especially at the beach.
My passion is teaching, and I truly strive to spark a love of learning in my students. There is no better feeling than seeing students excited about learning as I help them reach their fullest potential.
