Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
In this math skills summer camp, students will have another opportunity to review and interact with second grade math concepts and skills before entering third grade. This summer camp is intended to help students fill in learning gaps and allow learners to enter third grade confident and ready to interact with third grade math content.

Each class meeting will start out by giving students the opportunity to participate in a whole group problem-solving activity that encourages curiosity, perseverance, and a growth mindset. These activities are designed to be engaging and thought-provoking, helping students develop critical thinking skills. After this, students will be taught the lesson focus for each session through direct instruction. This will include teacher modeling, guided practice, and one or more independent practice tasks with immediate feedback. This structured approach ensures that students not only learn concepts but also have ample opportunity to practice and solidify their understanding.

If time permits at the end of each class, the entire class will have the opportunity to play virtual math games together, providing an interactive and enjoyable review of the content. These games are designed to reinforce key concepts and foster a fun and engaging learning experience.

Please refer to the class syllabus below for a more in depth outline of each class as well as the learning goal of each lesson. Late enrollment is welcome in this class.
