In this class we will review third grade math standards and prepare students for math in fourth grade. Every day we will review basic multiplication facts and division facts with songs, skip counting, and new tricks.  We will review place value, which they will see again in fourth and fifth grade. Review addition and subtraction strategies. I will introduce the standard algorithm, which will be a preview for fourth grade. Telling time and finding elapsed time will be a skill we will work on.

Lesson 1:
Place value
 We will then focus on place value (writing numbers in different forms: word form, expanded, and standard) this week and rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100.

Lesson 2:
Solving word problems
 We will focus on solving word problems with multiplication and division using Singapore math strategies. I also teach the students using a problem solving mnemonic trick.

Lesson 3:
addition/ subtraction multi-digit numbers
 We will focus on addition and subtraction multi-digit numbers using different strategies. We will introduce the standard algorithm, since it is a fourth grade math standard.

Lesson 4:
Telling time/elapsed time
 We will focus on reviewing telling time and elapsed time.
