Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
**Please read the description below first, but if you have any questions, (Will this class be a fit for my child? Will you help my child with homework?) please message me! I try to respond within less than 24 hours of your message.**

Does your second, third, and fourth grade learner need help with math? Then this class is for you! In this class, your learner will receive help with math concepts. As an elementary math teacher, I have experience teaching the 2nd and 3rd grade Common Core State Standards. We will review and learn concepts at your child's pace. I can help with homework as long as I am able to view the homework or know the standard beforehand (at least 48 hours notice please - not the day of due to having a full time teaching job).

Please message me or post in the Outschool page at least 48 hours in advance of the class about your child's math skills/needs. I do have many students that I tutor and teach full-time in a public school setting, so messaging me early will help me better prepare for your specific learner. If I have not received a message within 48 hours in advance, I will reach out to you. If after a few messages from me with no response, the first class MAY be canceled due to not receiving a message about what your student's needs are. If I decide to continue class (after no response), we will begin with place value.

During the first tutoring session together, your learner and I will spend time getting to know each other. As an educator, I firmly believe learning doesn’t happen if getting to to know and understand each student doesn’t happen first. Also, students need to know that their teacher/tutor is invested in them and truly wants them to succeed.

A few topics you can request for help for your child (these are 3rd grade specific):
1. Three-digit addition with regrouping along with word problems
2. Three-digit subtraction with regrouping along with word problems
3. Understanding fractions with models
4. Understanding fractions on a number-line
5. Comparing and equivalent fractions
6. Multiplication facts drill
7. Area of rectangles and squares
8. Area of rectilinear figures (irregular figures)
9. Perimeter of rectangles and squares
10. Perimeter of rectilinear figures (irregular figures)
11. Bar graphs, pictographs, and line plots
12. Telling time to five minutes, and the minute
13. Elapsed time
Learning Goals
Students will improve their math skills and increase their knowledge of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade math concepts.

Hello there! My name is Brittney Ainsworth, and I live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I am very excited to meet your learner!

So let's get to know each other! I have been a public school teacher for 11 years. The highest degree that I have accomplished is a Specialist's Degree in Instructional Leadership (Curriculum and Instruction). I do have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math and a Master's Degree in Mild to Moderate Disabilities. I currently teach third grade math, but I have taught grades K-5. Also, I have taught online for 4.5 years.

Teaching has always been my passion. I love that I have been given the opportunity to reach students all across the world! It truly is a blessing! Outside of teaching, I love to go to the gym, watch Netflix, and travel.

I love being an Outschool Tutor. Tutoring is my favorite class that I offer! I strive to make these classes very laid back and not overwhelming. I know many learners do not like math, so I strive to be as encouraging as possible to ensure a love for math in each learner I meet! I offer many tutoring classes for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade learners to help with any math concepts. Also, if you have a younger learner that needs help with simple addition facts, subtraction facts, and number recognition then be sure to check out the classes that I have to offer. I cannot wait to meet your learner, and I hope to see you in class soon! :)
