Word problems are a kids worst enemy! I am here to change that! This will be on ongoing class that will meet once a week and it will be discussion based. This class will be ran using the Cognitively-Guided Instruction Process. I will share a math story (word problem) and the students and I will pick this story apart so we fully understand the story. We will dissect the story, make predictions and share their thoughts. Then students will work independently and then students will share their thinking and hear other strategies from other students. To end the lesson, we will reflect on what worked well. Students will leave this class with a better understanding of how to tackle word problems and a multitude of strategies under their belt.
Learning Goals
Students will have an understanding of how to tackle word problems with gain a multitude of strategies they can use to find the answre to a word problem.
