What's included

1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be given time to solve the problems during the game, but they may want to spend some time prior to class reviewing fraction and decimal operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and percent problems. That is the only prep work they will need to do prior to class.
Assessment
Assessment will be informal through the points they earn while playing the game.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
In this one-time class, students will solve math problems and earn points for correct answers.
•Topics Covered: Fraction & Decimal Operations
-Adding & Subtracting Fractions with like and unlike denominators
-Multiplying & Dividing Fractions
-Decimal Place Value
-Decimal Operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
-Converting Fractions, Decimals and Percents
-Finding Percent of a Number
•Class Structure: Game format, but in the absence of "buzzers" we will go in order (determined randomly) so that students can participate in a fair and equitable way.
•Prerequisite Skills and Teaching Opportunities: Learners will want to brush up on the afore mentioned skills prior to class, but when teachable moments arise, instruction will be provided. If an incorrect answer is given, time will be spent re-teaching the concept so that students walk away with a better understanding of fraction and decimal operations.
•Interaction: Depending on the number of enrolled learners, students may play as teams, partners or individuals.
Learning Goals
* Learners will review and sharpen their fraction and decimal operations skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
* Learners will review and sharpen their percent skills (conversions and percent word problems).
* Learners will engage with teammates/partners in a fun environment.
