All classes will follow the same routine but the math will change. Every class will start with a basic warmup for the brain and the body. Students will do 25 jumping jacks and I will ask each kid to give me an algebraic formula that equals 25. I can work with them if they struggle with this. Then we will do a couple of stretches and I will ask the kids about their days/hobbies to build rapport with them. Then we will begin the main part of the class. During this, I will ask the class problems such as If I 28 exercises including 15 push-ups and X amount of sit-ups how many sit-ups did I do. We will then transfer the word problem into an algebraic formula and solve the problem. For simple problems such as this one, we may do the exercises to check out work. For more complicated problems we will just use the exercises to break up the math so that class is a little more fun.
I am a very adjustable teacher and I will do my best to adapt to the needs of the group. If they find the math too hard I will simplify. If they find it too easy I can make it more difficult by asking questions with negative answers, creating answers with multiple variables, or involving more complicated mathematical operations such as exponents. I will also provide alternative exercises if they are too hard/easy.
I do ask that Students understand the very basics of algebra before taking this class. This class is to practice those skills, it is not designed to teach them for the first time.
