US Grade 1 - 3
This class is designed for children in Second Grade. We will focus on weekly topics, including Math, English, and Writing. However, we will also include essentials to keep busy students' attention through movement activities, songs, and a little dance. As a licensed and experienced teacher, I fully understand the importance of keeping students actively engaged in learning. In each class, we will focus on concepts in the following categories: English Skills: Focus areas will be on reading strategies, including asking questions and learning about the main idea and details through short stories. We will learn about characters, settings, and sequencing of events. Finally, we will discuss stories and learn how to analyze story elements. Other skills during each class include; phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling, blending, and sight words. Your child will receive fun and engaging learning in the classroom and have opportunities to practice outside class with optional worksheets made by a licensed teacher. Writing Skills: We will practice writing names and words daily. Each day students will have a writing prompt. Monday and Tuesday, we will practice writing sentences. We will work on writing on Wednesday and Thursday with a choice board based on character, setting, and plot. In addition to the writing curriculum, we will practice writing many words, including sight words. Weekly handouts will be uploaded into the classroom.
