Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Fractions are a part of math that is used in everyday life, even in cooking and baking!
Now that students have learned basic operations with whole numbers, Epsilon covers these same operations with fractions. Fractions are presented in an intuitive way with visual explanations of equivalent fractions, common denominators, and fractions and numbers larger than 1. Math-U-See is a complete, comprehensive K-12 math curriculum that uses manipulatives to illustrate and teach math concepts. Using a multi-sensory, mastery-based approach, students of all learning styles can benefit from this program.

Classes will meet twice weekly. On Day One, the week's Lesson will be presented and we will complete the Section A practice problems together during class. Sections B, C and D will be completed for homework. Students may submit homework to be graded by teacher, if parents choose. On Day Two, we will complete Section E together, review concepts, and do supplementary activities, time permitting.
During each class, I will use digital manipulatives, real-life examples, and the whiteboard to help students visualize concepts in the lessons. Students are highly encouraged to participate, ask questions, and answer questions in class to ensure they have a good understanding of each concept. I strive to create a classroom atmosphere that is warm and encouraging so all students can succeed at their own pace.
*For parents who desire a grade, homework and tests can be submitted to me and I will grade them on a weekly basis.
