Class Experience

In this five-day intensive, we will practice the 1-12's times tables as well as simple division through mental math exercises, written practice and games such as multiplication bingo and the game "24." Students will learn to identify patterns and learn "magic tricks" when computing numbers. Standard third grade material will be practiced and reviewed over the five day class, including simple measurement, multiplication tables and addition and subtraction using carrying and borrowing. Following is a breakdown of the daily routine:
warm-up mental math and story problems, multiplication bingo, written practice, additional games such as 24 and other math puzzles
This is a five-day intensive, giving students the opportunity to focus on bolstering their math skills for fourth grade.
As this is a short, intensive class, there will not generally be assignments between meetings.
Pencil and paper, colored pencils and a ruler are required.
Class participation
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
