Retain what has been learned in 2nd grade and prepare for 3rd grade math. This fun math weekly camp course will make the transition smoother solving math problems as learning continues and/or when school year begins.

US Grade 2
In this course 2nd/3rd grade math will be taught/reviewed which will include addition, subtraction and multiplication. We will also study place values, writing number in word forms and other math facts. Additional topics such as story problems will be covered in this course. I will teach by explaining how math problems are solved, the logic behind math equations and how math skills can be used in real life situations. The following ways of learning styles will be included: visual, verbal, hands-on, logical and social. I will include explanations, videos clips and encourage group discussions. Students in this course need to have the basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Week One on February 21st: Place Value Activity - Learn what the place values are and how to spell numbers Week Two on February 28th: Addition Activity - Looking for Patterns when adding with one same number Week Three on March 7th: Subtraction Activity - Learn skip counting backwards Week Four on March 14th: Multiplication Activity - Learn how to skip count to find the answer

I look forward to sharing with you the fundamentals that I've experienced that have worked the best with young students in learning math. I'm offering this class because it's important to understand the concept of math problems and how to get the answer. I have always loved math and it's still my favorite subject today since grade school and through college. It was always interesting learning multiple ways solving many equations. I found that when more than one technique is used in teaching it makes it easier to understand and complete math problems. Learning the basics of math and understand it well will help strengthen skills that can be applied to more complex equations making easier to solve.Reviews
