Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 12
Unlock your student's mathematical potential with the Dimensions Math series, a comprehensive program that takes them on a journey from concrete images to abstract understanding. I believe in nurturing mathematical thinking and empowering students to "do math" rather than simply memorizing facts.

Determining the right level within the Singapore method can be challenging, especially for newcomers. That's why I've created a one-time course specifically designed to assess your learner's developmental phase and provide placement recommendations within the Dimensions Math program. I understand that each student has unique strengths and areas for growth, such as excelling in certain activities but struggling with reading word problems.

During this assessment, your learner will participate in two types of tests: an online computer-based test and a paper-and-pencil test. To ensure a smooth experience, please have writing paper and a pencil ready at the beginning of the session. It's also helpful if the student is familiar with annotating or drawing on the screen, although this functionality may not be available on Chromebooks using Zoom.

While the placement test is an essential component, it's not the sole factor in determining the best placement. Drawing on my experience as a former Special Education teacher, I'll provide valuable insights into how your student approaches problems and where they may encounter difficulties. For instance, they might excel in computation but struggle with word problems. Please note that these assessments are informal and cannot be used to determine eligibility for specific programs or services.

Within one week, you'll receive a comprehensive written summary of the assessment, including my observations and recommendations. Although I offer small classes and tutoring utilizing the Dimensions Math Series, there's no requirement to participate in my courses. This information is solely intended to help you and your learner find the perfect fit.

Empower your student's mathematical journey by ensuring they start at the right level. Enroll in our Dimensions Math Placement Assessment today and open doors to a world of mathematical discovery and growth.

I am a former Special Education teacher and have worked with students with disabilities (including autism, cognitive disabilities, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and other developmental disabilities) in the areas of math, language arts, social studies, science, and social-emotional learning.

As a child with ADHD learning math, I really struggled with worksheets and would have benefitted from the multi-sensory approach provided through the Dimensions Math curriculum (which is why I use this exclusively). I understand that math isn't just about numbers but how one puts together the concepts for real-world applications.

As assessment of this sort can provide a starting point in one's math journey.
