Math-Artists in Making: Create 2D & 3D Art With Geometry and Fibonacci Sequence
What's included
8 live meetings
10 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 4-week (twice a week) camp, young Math Artists will engage in making beautiful artwork (2D and 3D) using Geometric concepts and Fibonacci Sequence. We will first explore what Fibonacci Sequence is and how is it observed and applied around us everywhere, including nature. We will also learn the applications of Geometric concepts and their applications in art. Then, we will apply the Fibonacci Sequence and the geometric art to draw and explore art from the basic patterns, moving to more complex forms of art. During the classes, I will first discuss the basic concepts and start from basic 2D drawing and then, I will move to advanced 2D and basic 3D art following the weekly schedule below: Week 01: Fibonacci Sequence - What is Fibonacci Sequence - Exploring Fibonacci Sequence in the nature - Making 2D Art using Fibonacci Sequence Week 02: Geometric Concepts - Reviewing Geometric concepts such as shapes and lengths. - Learning how to draw elaborate 2D patterns using basic shapes and lines Week 03: Adding Shades and Colors - Learning effects of shading and colors to bring artwork to life by creating elaborate illusions. - Drawing advanced patterns using Geometric concepts Week 04: Going 3D - Learning how to draw 3D shapes using Geometric concepts - Learning how to draw optical illusions The class will be highly interactive and will encourage imagination and creativity. My teaching style is very friendly and warm so that students feel comfortable in this inclusive learning environment. Each student will be encouraged to share their artwork and thoughts throughout the camp. The duration of each meeting is 75 minutes so that there is sufficient time during the class to learn as well as draw art. Pre-requisite: 1. Familiarity with using compass to draw specific lengths. 2. Familiarity with angles and using protractor.
Learning Goals
1. Understand the applications of Geometric concepts in Art
2. Explore the Geometric shapes and Fibonacci Sequence in nature
3. Apply the Geometric concepts and Fibonacci Sequence to make beautiful 2D and 3D art.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from McGill University
My passion to make Math more interactive and fun for kids has enabled me to look for multiple ways to teach Math. I have been teaching this subject for over 6 years and have privately tutored kids for Math. I have also taught my nieces Art, English and Math from a young age. I learned a lot from these experiences and I intend to use those skills to encourage my students to look for patterns in numbers. I love how students get excited to find that Math is everywhere, including the nature as well as simple forms of art. I always encourage them to enjoy their work as much as possible and feel confident in sharing it with others.
See you in my class!
