Class Experience

Depending on the student's grade level, interest and challenges, a focus on strengthening multiplication and division may be practiced, fractions, decimals and percentages, geometry or pre-algebra. For language arts, spelling, vocabulary and writing skills will be strengthened and supported through engaging activities and games.
Aurore has a certificate in Waldorf remedial education as well as a Master of Science in Education and has worked extensively as a grades math and language arts educational support teacher in addition to supporting a regular curriculum. She is comfortable working with different learning styles and challenges.
A practice workbook may be chosen based on the child's grade level. I tend to recommend Jamie York's Making Math Meaningful workbooks or Steven Rasmussen's Key to Fractions, Decimals and Percentages for home practice.
Loose paper, a math notebook and both graphite pencil and colored pencils are recommended. For the older student, a compass, protractor and ruler are also useful.
Informal assessment is continuous based on the student's participation and progress.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
