Word problems often are a major source of stress for children, causing them to panic and freeze. This course is designed to help your child grow in confidence and skill when faced with a word problem! I will present a 5 step process to follow when faced with a word problem that will lead to success! Each week we will dive slowly into one or two new steps, practicing that step and building on what we learned in previous weeks. I will start by modeling the step, then providing guided practice,...
Students will review how to add and subtract double digit whole numbers. Students will learn and apply a five step process to be word problems by practicing identifying questions and key facts, finding important information, solving the problem, and explaining their work.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
