Class Experience
To succeed in this class, students should have a basic understanding of the chess pieces' movements. However, students don't need to be experts in any way. In fact, they can have only played a little bit of chess or have just learned about the game recently. All skill levels are welcome! In the first class meeting, students will learn the five most important principles to succeed in what's called the "Middlegame" of chess. Mr. K has been playing chess for over 25 years and has been teaching for over a decade.
There are no required supplies for this class. However, if you have a physical chess board you can follow along with during class, that has proven to be the most helpful way for students to interact with and learn the material.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
