Welcome to "Mastering Sentence Writing Part 2," another course designed to improve your learner's sentence writing ability. We will focus on creating longer sentences: compound and complex sentences. We also concentrate on descriptive and narrative sentences. Both descriptive and narrative sentences are essential tools for writers. They enrich the writing by adding depth, clarity, and engagement, ultimately making the content more effective and enjoyable for the reader. A typical class will follow this structure: 1. Warm Up -3 minutes 2. Lesson Introduction - 2 minutes 3. Direct Instruction with Active Class Participation - 10 minutes 4. Guided Practice - 10 minutes 5. Independent Writing Practice - 15 minutes 6. Review/Exit Activity - 5 minutes I look forward to having your learner in my course!

Lesson 4:
Using Figurative Language
In this lesson, learners will learn the most common types of figurative language and use them in descriptive writing to create meaning. Learners will choose a writing topic, brainstorm and begin drafting a paragraph. Learners will have five days to submit a final copy of their work.

Pre-Requisites
Learners should have some writing experience. Learners should be able to identify subjects, verbs and understand a complete thought is. Learners are able to type or handwrite. Ideally, learners should have taken Part I before enrolling.
