Mastering Multiplication Workshop Grades 3-5

This class was designed to help children learn their multiplication facts and to acquire a conceptual understanding of basic elementary pre algebraic concepts. Vocabulary and informational thinking strategies will also be taught.

The Multiplication Master Class is an intensive fun-filled hour where students will learn a variety of strategies and to help them multiply and develop math literacy necessary for a solid foundation.  In this class, we will have a great time singing and dancing while learning how to multiply.  

The Line Up: We Track and Document Student Progress! 

The Drill: Good Old Fashion Drill the Skill!  Practice! Practice! Practice!
Many children have difficulty in math because they do not know their basic facts. In this class, we practice, practice, practice, and then practice some more.  

Students will be taught:

II.  Mastering Multiplication Facts 0-12
1.  Drills/Flashcards

III.  Properties of Multiplication 
1.  The Zero Product Property
2.  The Identity Property
3   Commutative Property
4.  Associative Property
5.  Distributive Property

Homework and assessments are available at no extra charge.  However, student must complete the extra work needed to assess their progress.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, the goal is for students understand and apply the basic properties of multiplication and fluently recall multiplication facts for numbers 0, 1, 2–12.

Lesson 1:
Introduction to Properties
 Objective: Learn the Zero Property (anything times zero is zero) and the Identity Property (anything times one is itself).
Activities:
Flocabulary Video: Introductory video on multiplication basics.
Nearpod Interactive Lesson: Activities to demonstrate the zero and identity properties with examples and visual aids.
Boom Cards & Games: Quick practice with 0s and 1s to reinforce understanding.
Quiz: Short quiz to assess understanding of the properties.

Multiplying by 2 and 10
 Objective: Master the 2 and 10 times tables.
Activities:
Flocabulary Video: Watch videos on the 2s and 10s, with songs to help with memorization.
Nearpod Lesson: Interactive practice with skip counting by 2s and 10s, including a visual and audio-supported quiz.
Games: Fun counting games to reinforce patterns in 2s and 10s.
Boom Cards: Practice problems focused on the 2 and 10 times tables.

Lesson 3:
Multiplying by 5 and 11
 Objective: Learn the 5 and 11 times tables.
Activities:
Flocabulary Video: Watch videos on the 5s and 11s, emphasizing skip counting and patterns.
Nearpod Activity: Practice skip counting by 5s, counting fingers, and identifying patterns in the 11s.
Games: Matching games and quizzes on the 5 and 11 times tables.
Boom Cards: Quick practice problems to reinforce understanding of both tables.

Multiplying by 3 and 4
 Objective: Master the 3 and 4 times tables through visualization and grouping.
Activities:
Flocabulary Video: Catchy videos on multiplying by 3 and 4 to reinforce counting by these numbers.
Nearpod Interactive Lesson: Practice grouping objects in sets of 3 and 4, with drag-and-drop exercises and fill-in-the-blank quizzes.
Games: Grouping activities and visual multiplication games focused on 3s and 4s.
Boom Cards: Additional practice problems for reinforcement.

Parental Guidance
I use a variety of websites and resources to help students internalize their math facts. No two students learn the same. These resources are available long after students complete this class.
Pre-Requisites
Before joining this exciting multiplication class, students should have a few math skills under their belt: Basic Addition: Students should be comfortable adding numbers together.
