Students will learn to represent relationships between quantities using ratios, ādetermine equivalencies among fractions, and compare and order integers. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to communicate and reason mathematically and become problem solvers. Opportunities for each student to acquire the specialized vocabulary and language patterns of mathematics are provided in a variety of methods (video clip, note copy, discussion, lecture). Class 1: The student will recognize and represent patterns with whole number exponents and perfect squares. Class 2: The student will represent and determine equivalencies among fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, and percents. Class 3: The student will identify, represent, compare, and order integers. Class 4: The student will represent relationships between quantities using ratios, and will use appropriate notations, such as a to b and a:b.
