During this class we will: - Briefly review factoring and simplifying fractions (Parts 1 and 2 of this fractions three pack!) - Dig in to identifying larger and smaller fractions, starting with obvious ones with common denominators to ensure understanding and then quickly moving on to unlike denominators. - Use real world examples to understand what we are doing and why it makes sense to do it in 'the real world'. - "Reverse course" and make equivalent (but not 'simplest form') fractions to again ensure understanding.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to successfully:
- Compare two fractions using equal to, less than, greater than.
- Find an equivalent for any given fraction.
