Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
The way I teach this skill is very easy to learn and your child will be prepared for success in Algebra.

I will show students how to do an exercise on the whiteboard. They will learn how to simplify radicals by actually doing example exercises during class. For example, students will learn how to simplify an expression like this: SQRT(50)=5*SQRT(2). I will use the factor tree method followed by my own "twist". I will repeat with another exercise and will explain as many times as needed until the students are ready to do the exercises by themselves. Once started, I will check their answers for accuracy and follow up with any necessary explanations. I encourage all participants to try as many exercises as possible. I follow up the class with an upload of homework with the solutions.

Course breakdown:
Week 1: Simplifying radicals. (√50 = 5 √2)
Week 2: Adding and subtracting radicals. ( √5 + √50)
Week 3: Multiplying radicals.
Week 4: Rationalizing.
Week 5: Dividing Radicals
Week 6: Simplifying cube roots, 4th roots, etc
Week 7: Simplifying radicals with variables.
Week 8:Solving basic radical equations. √x = x + 2
