Each session will be tailored to the needs of your child to build on what they know. I will start off with addition methods using the formal written method in columns and check deeper understanding by using the expanded method. I will do the same with the subtraction method. I do this by playing games such as 'Closest to 1000'. By playing a game, I can assess their understanding and address any misconceptions along the way. The repeated interaction of a game will make it fun for your child while it gives me the opportunity to plan next-steps for their learning. This is an ideal lesson when working one-to one.
During the session(s) I will build up to the formal methods for multiplication and division. I always use a range of pictorial methods alongside abstract concepts to ensure that children fully understand- (to have a deeper understanding of maths).

It's up to you how many sessions you choose a week: I am happy to support children with homework and/ or any specific areas that they may be working on or interested in.
