Did you know that most ballet terms are derived from the French language? In this class, students will gain a better understanding of the French terms used in their ballet classes. When students fully grasp the terminology, they can perform more effectively in class. This understanding enables them to participate in classes globally and accurately interpret the expectations and instructions provided. During each lesson, we will discuss new ballet terms. Students will make flash cards for each term and learn how to read, say, and correctly spell (with accents) each word. Students who are able, will be encouraged to try the corresponding movements with me during class. Note: This is not a ballet technique class; however, I do offer group and private lessons for ballet technique upon request. Homework: A homework lesson is be provided after most lessons. Homework is optional but is encouraged for better understanding and memorization of the vocabulary terms learned in this class. We will review the answers to the previous week's homework assignment during the beginning of each class. Homework PDFs (when applicable) will be uploaded after each class. You will need to print these for your learner to complete. New sessions start from Week 1 each January and September. This ongoing class covers PARTS 1 & 2 (approx. 38 lessons) from the full course material. Join anytime! If you missed the beginning, don't worry! We will start back at Week 1 once we finish the final lesson. Interested in receiving a Certificate of Completion for what you have learned? Health & Safety:
You understand that dance and physical exercise carry inherent risks of injury. You should consult with a physician or healthcare professional before beginning any physical activity to ensure that it is appropriate for your fitness level and personal health.
Personal Responsibility:
You are responsible for creating a safe and appropriate environment for your participation, including wearing proper attire, using non-slippery surfaces, and ensuring adequate space. If at any point you feel discomfort, dizziness, or pain, you should stop immediately and seek medical advice.
Instruction & Modifications:
While the instructor provides guidance and modifications, it is your responsibility to gauge your ability to perform the exercises. Any modifications or variations are to be performed at your own risk.

By engaging in these online classes, you waive any and all claims against the instructor, the company, or any associated parties for injuries, damages, or losses that may occur from your participation in the class, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
Intellectual Property:
The content provided in this class is for personal use only. Reproduction, distribution, or unauthorized sharing of class materials is prohibited without written consent.
Class Size Minimum:
If the class size minimum is not met, the class may still be held but finish early, depending on the material covered for each lesson. Fewer students often results in moving through the lesson much faster. The class fee, however, remains the same, because the same amount of material is being covered during each lesson. (OR) Students may be combined from multiple sections of the same class into one class time, creating one full class instead of several partially-filled classes. You will be notified in advance if this second option is required. I understand that a schedule change may interfere with other classes you are taking on Outschool.
Pre-Requisites
1 year of ballet training experience recommended but not required. Most terms are French adjectives and verbs. This course can also be helpful to students currently learning French as a second language.
