Class Experience

Most of us only know one way to color with markers, when in fact, there are tons of different techniques you can use with them! In this hour-long art class, learn 3 new exciting ways to make coloring with markers even more fun: blending colors together, changing the color of the marker, and even painting with them! We will spend the first 15 minutes learning how to do the techniques, and spend the rest of class coloring a fancy, fishy, underwater scene! Mermaids, mermen, and merpeople are highly encouraged. ;)

In my art classes, I almost always try to incorporate creativity into my lessons. Learners' individualism and ideas only make my classes better! I encourage discussion, questions, and insights whenever I can. I also like to keep a fun, light atmosphere. Conversation and comments are welcome (and moderated by me) throughout class.

This is a beginner class. No experience or prior knowledge is required!

Learning Goals

Students will learn:
-new art terminology (values, saturation, blending)
-how to use water-based markers to achieve a variation of values, saturations, and blends of colors

I received my AA in studio art in 2016, and I have been teaching art since 2020, when I led a paint tutorial for a sixth grade birthday party that was almost cancelled due to the pandemic. I really enjoyed the experience and became excited about the idea of sharing art and creativity with other artists. I love both the science and subjectiveness of art--I think there's a lot we can learn from it, and I can't wait to share it with your learners!
