Assessment
There will be a weekly quiz to assess each students' progress as well as printable activity sheets that go along with each lesson.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
This is a 5 week FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE class. 
We will not meet live for this class but there is opportunity for interaction via a collaborate board in Nearpod, sharing materials, questions and comments in the classroom, and the ability to take a Kahoot Quiz together with other students of desired. 
Instructional videos prepared by and narrated by the teacher will be provided each Monday. 
There will be a Nearpod link provided with virtual field trips and an interactive board where students can share and leave feedback for each other. 
There will be weekly printable PDF activity sheets as well as a Kahoot quiz to be completed at the end of the week.
Students can coordinate a time to take the Kahoot quiz, post it in the classroom, and take the quiz together with other students if they would like to. 
Students can also share comments and material in the classroom with the teacher and each other. 
Teacher can meet with students individually with 24 hour notice to answer any questions or comments. 
All Content will be posted by 8 a.m. EST each Monday except the Kahoot Quiz which will be posted by 8 a.m. EST each Thursday.
The class schedule is as follows:

Week One:
Introduction to Map Skills: Students will learn
1. Map Keys
2. Compasses/Cardinal and Intermediate Directions
3. Map Scales
4. Longitude/Latitude/Equator
5. Hemispheres/Prime Meridian

Week Two:
Types of Maps
1. Political Maps
2. Physical Maps
3. Topographic Maps
4.Products and Natural Resources Map
5. A brief overview of city, state, national and population maps
6. Floor Plans

Week Three:
Introduction to the United States and Regions
1. Boundaries and Rivers
1. Northeastern States
2. Southeastern States

Week Four:
1. Midwestern States
2. Southwestern States

Week Five:
1. Western States
2. Students will give directions to a family visiting a zoo. They will lead the family to each exhibit the family would like to see.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of maps; the elements that map up a map, how to read a map and the different types of maps. Students will learn about the regions of the United States and analyze goods maps for each region. Students will gain knowledge about each region of the United States, where each region is located and what makes each region unique.

Supply List
Learners will need to check into the classroom each Monday for the materials for the week.
Learners should check back into the classroom each Thursday to access the link for the Kahoot quiz. 
There will be printable PDF activity sheets each week and students will need a pen or pencil to complete them.
