Class Experience

Monoprinting is a unique art form because unlike other types of printmaking, the process creates a single monoprint instead of multiple copies.

After a short lesson on the historical significance of printmaking, students will create their very own monoprint art. The teacher will share images on students' screens demonstrating different art concepts and printmakinging techniques.

To make their monoprint, students will create an abstract painting on their tinfoil printing plate. This image will then be printed onto paper. Following the lead of the instructor, students will take a non-traditional approach and manipulate their monoprints by drawing on them with black ink.

Each participant will leave this workshop with a better knowledge of basic printmaking and painting techniques, as well as a unique piece of art to show off to their friends and family.

Learning Goals

The goals for this workshop are for students to learn a new way of making art and gain a broader knowledge of the art terms and art history related to printmaking. Students will also develop their abilities in visual design and creative expression while having a fun, hands-on experience creating their own monoprint.
