US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, we will be discussing the adventures of Herbert Lemon, famous Lost-and-Founder of the Grand Nautilus Hotel, as he works to figure out how to return a mysterious bottle that washed up on shore of Eerie-on-Sea and to whom. The bottle is glowing from the inside and the note seems to make no sense. But when everyone around tries to say that the bottle belongs to them, Herbert knows something fishy is going on. Can the true owner of the bottle be found and can the message inside be understood? Let's find out together! Class will consist of instructor-directed discussion. Discussion topics will include the reader's favorite moments in the story, parts of the story they found scary, or who their favorite characters were and why. The class will conclude with a review of our feelings and opinions as we decide if we would recommend this book to a friend. We will also be discussing different literary elements as they arise such as theme, setting, and climax. Book reports and a list of literary elements will be available in the classroom during the class session. Please do your reading before class time. Psst! You don't have to read all of the books in the series in order to enjoy these stories!
