- The unique approach to spelling instruction in this course helps learners build the essential knowledge for being a fluent and accurate reader and writer. The lessons teach homophones, spelling changes, prefixes, suffixes, complex spelling patterns, new vocabulary and word usage that most third grade curriculums cover. Each Making Words activity contains rhyming words which help learners review the more complex vowel patterns. This unique approach allows learners at all levels within 3rd grade to make progress in their spelling, decoding, and vocabulary skills.

We strive to provide a welcoming, inclusive online classroom community where all learners' needs are met through a personalized approach to teaching and learning. All classes are designed and created by me, Kelly Hall, owner and founder of Leaves of Learning Academy. Our teachers go through rigorous training to assure that all classes are taught to the same level of quality no matter which one of our teachers is teaching it! I have strict hiring standards and strive to only hire teachers I would feel comfortable teaching my own children on Outschool.

A set of spelling tiles (like in the game Scrabble) or cards. Kids can make these on notecards or on small squares of paper. No need to buy spelling tiles! We only need up to 8 letters each week. I will message each week to let you know what letters we'll need for the following week. Please also bring a notebook or piece of paper to write down the words if you'd like to have a list of them after class.
