Class experience
US Grade 4 - 6
This course will be on-going and will meet as needed. We will meet online so that I can model problems and answer questions. Upon request, students can be assigned practice problems to work on and bring to class. Each class can be tailored to accommodate learners' specific needs. I will show various strategies and techniques to help students improve their skills and abilities. For example, I teach students three ways to do multiplication (area model, lattice and standard algorithm). They then...
Students will learn the algorithm (steps) behind math processes and understand why those algorithms work. Students will make real-world connections and learn to apply math to concepts outside of the classroom.
Homework Offered
Upon request, students can be assigned practice problems to work on and bring to class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessments will be given as needed. Learners may be given Exit Tickets at the end of class.Grades Offered
Students will need paper and pencil to complete problems. They may choose to keep all work in a notebook or folder for future reference. That is also a great way to track growth / progress from week to week.
