Do you love makeup? Would you like to communicate your passion with the rest of the world and learn new techniques from amazing artists, but cannot understand what they are saying? We learn a second language for practical reasons: to communicate with others and understand the world around us. One of the most difiicult parts of mastering a second language is to carry fluent conversations, as our brain will tend to think in our native tongue and translate into the second language, resulting in awkward speech and delays. This obstacle can be conquered by regularly participating in fully immersive experiences, such as this class, while learning new, fun vocabulary related to your passion (and one of mine): MAKEUP! Please download and print the document attached, which includes a list of vocabulary and common phrases we will use in class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn new vocabulary, related to beauty, skin care and makeup, including body parts, generic product names and common phrases. This class is better suited towards tweens and teens, as well as girls that use stage makeup for dance, gymnastics, theater or other performing arts. We will concentrate on giving students an immersive Spanish as a second language experience, while learning new makeup techniques, as well as how to care for your tools, including hygienic practices and disinfection.
