There is no formal assessment in this course. In each class, I confer with each student during the independent writing time to see how the learner is doing with their writing.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 2
Is your learner a reluctant writer? The goal of this course is to help your learner to be a more confident writer. First Grade Story Writing will review writing basics in fun and engaging ways. Learners should be able to write some words and simple sentences before coming to this class. Warm Up Your Pencil The session will begin with a Warm Up Your Pencil activity. This will be a fun and low pressure way to get your learner moving more freely and comfortably with a pencil on paper. Skill Review We will learn that most stories can answer three important questions: 1. Who? -Stories have characters. 2. Where? Stories have a setting. 3. What? Stories have a plot. Writing Practice Next learners will have independent writing time with teacher support. Sharing Time: The learners will be encouraged to share and encourage one another in their writing.
Learning Goals
The class is designed to review basic story writing skills such as parts of speech, parts of a story, sentence formation, story ideas and the writer's craft.

Learners will need: pencil and crayons/colored pencils 2 pages of plank paper 2-3 pages of lined paper

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
