1 in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will be practicing their creativity and drawing skills by designing their own Korok character! We will practice observational drawing, character design, and developing one's own style. I will have multiple references that students can choose from in designing their character such as face style, body type, leaf masks, and props. Students may also add their own flair by adding hair, facial expressions, personal props, etc. I will be drawing with students in real time, and sharing my screen so that they can see every mark I make as I make it. I will be checking in with each student individually throughout the class so that no one is left behind! I will offer critiques, help students generate ideas, and guide them through the design process as we create! Students are welcome to chat with me about the game, characters, and drawing! We will try to avoid spoilers!
Learning Goals
We will practice observational drawing, character design, and developing one's own style.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
No frightening or sensitive topics will be discussed in this class. Koroks are small, seed-like creatures in the Zelda games. They are cute and round and do not use any weapons. I will be choosing the references ahead of time so no chance of inappropriate content will be viewed.
Supply List
The only materials required are a pencil and paper! Students may also use any digital drawing software. The instructor will be using Procreate for the iPad, but will be giving tips to students using any medium.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Science from University of Dundee
Hiya! I'm Stacy! I love all things art and animation! I'm a huge cartoon and anime fan, and love to share my passion with my students!
I have been teaching drawing, digital painting, and animation online since 2020, and have had over 50 long-term private students! I have also been a freelance artist and animator since graduating with my Master's in Medical Art in 2019.
One of my most important values in teaching is to build students' confidence in themselves. Especially in art, people can be so hard on themselves! I will always encourage my students to do their best, and allow themselves some grace when trying something new for the first time. Self-confidence and self-love is important! That's why I take extra special care to pay attention to the way we talk to ourselves in class. We encourage each other and take pride in the things we succeed in! But, we also forgive ourselves and persevere in the things it takes us more than one try to master.
