✨Create your own game!✨

Have you ever wanted to make your own computer games? This fun flexible class will walk you through making a point and click escape room style game as demonstrated in the video.

Each week we will build on the skills already learnt and add to our adventure games. The learners will start by making a basic game and move onto more complicated aspects of coding and game development.

The game will be developed in the PowerPoint application and children will be expected to complete part of the game each week to return it for testing and game play within the class. there will also be class discussion on the ideas for their games, and support each other in development. each learner will end the course will a playable point and click game.

The outline of the class is below
Week 1: Creating game backgrounds. There is an instructional video and them PowerPoint templates to assist the learners in their first assignment to create a 'play ground' for their game. They will be expected to create the backgrounds and then upload them to the classroom to share with other learners and comment on other learner's rooms.

Week 2:This week we will be crafting the puzzles to solve during the game. The instructional video and workbook will help the learners to develop their ideas and they will be taking part in classroom questions and sharing the problems they encounter in the process of developing their game.

Week 3: This week we will be adding in the puzzles to the game and creating a playable experience. In this week learners will be able to start sharing parts of their game with the class and playing demonstrations of other learners games.

Week 4: This week we will be creating the exit for the escape game and what happens when a player 'wins'. After the instructional video learners will use the classroom to share screen recordings of their game run through for feedback. They will also be expected to support classmates with their own games.

Week 5: In our final week we will be adding finishing touches to the game, bug testing and sharing of completed games. There will be a final video to support learners and then a game gallery for learners to display their finished pieces of work. members of the class will be able to play each other's games and leave reviews for the game with suggestions for future work.

Please be aware that you will need Microsoft PowerPoint installed for this course. Smartphone and Chromebook, PowerPoint apps, do not have the editing capabilities required to make these games, you will need PowerPoint actually installed.
