Each day of our telling time summer camp students will be engaged in a different math lesson along with games, hands on activities and fun relevant to the skill of the day! Difficulty will continue to build as the days continue into the camp program beginning with telling time to the hour and then half hour. By the end of camp, students will be able to tell time to both the hour and half hour as well as independently draw the hands on the clock to create these times. Daily, learners will practice their telling time math skills to set them up for success in their current kindergarten and 1st grade math work. This class meets three days for 1 week; please be aware that the material will continue to build upon the previous day as we move through the week. Additional worksheets relevant to the focus of each day as well as a list of any other hands on manipulates being used for games and activities will be posted three days before the class start date.
Learning Goals
Students will be assessed on an ongoing basis throughout each individual class. In doing so this will enable me to evaluate the level each learner is at and be able to alter lessons as we go in order to ensure each child has the appropriate level of understanding in addition to getting the most out of each class.
Informal evaluation will occur through asking questions and prompting students to respond. Student responses in math games as well as through checks for understanding throughout each class will also make of components of informal assessments.
