Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be asked to practice their crochet stitches if they are struggling with them, to be ready to move on with the rest of the class.

Class Experience

This is an advanced skill level class, It is recommended that students have basic crochet skills prior to this class, please see my other listings for learning the basics and creating other projects.
Throughout the course of this class students will learn to use the basic techniques and single stitch crochet along with learning how to reduce and increase while crocheting, which are the first step to shaping.  Students will create their own crochet bear like the one pictured. The basic crochet skills learned in this class can be applied to future classes and projects if students wish to progress and learn other techniques to create their own fiber art. 
For this project students will need: 
1 skein or ball of worsted weight yarn any color
1 skein or ball of worsted weight yarn black in color 
6mm Safety eyes or small buttons,  if they choose/ or students can choose to crochet eyes
A crochet hook size F or G.  
Scissors
Darning needle
Polyfill
Supplies can be found at any craft store or online. 
Students will engage in the class by watching teacher's recorded presentations of each step of the process and responding to teacher's  questions within the class discussion, students will be reporting progress on their project and showing picture, video or written description of their progress each week as well as a picture of their completed project at the end of week 4. Students will show understanding of the concepts taught each week by responding to the teacher's questions within the chat.  Teacher will provide relevant feedback each week on student progress and stitching, based on student work as well as being available to answer questions throughout the course of the class. Students can post questions in the classroom for teacher or student response.  Students are encouraged to share ideas and help each other if they know the answer.  Discussion topics will be posted in the classroom weekly where students can share with each other and discuss their ideas about the topic. Students are expected to provide respectful comments on at least once a week on another students posts each week.    

Week 1: Students will learn how to create a magic ring as well as some basic pattern reading.  Students will use these techniques to complete the legs and body of their bear.  At the end of the week students will present what they created, and respond to teacher's weekly question posts within the chat to indicate understanding of the concepts taught that week.  
Week 2: Students will work using the single stitch increase and decrease techniques to create the head of their bear.  At the end of the week students will present what they created, and respond to teacher's weekly question posts within the chat to indicate understanding of the concepts taught that week.
Week 3: Students will learn how to create the arms, the ears and begin assembly of their bear.   At the end of the week students will present what they created, and respond to teacher's weekly question posts within the chat to indicate understanding of the concepts taught that week.
Week 4: Students will complete assembly and stitch the face of their bear. At the end of the week students will present their completed project that they created, and respond to teacher's weekly question posts within the chat.  to indicate understanding of the concepts taught over the course of four weeks.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to use the single crochet technique, work in the round, increase and decrease stitches to produce a completed bear.

Parental Guidance
Parental Guidance is required for the use of sharp objects. Students will be using scissors and needles for this class.
