This is great learning opportunity to discover nature and the natural world that is surrounding you-- where ever in the world you are! Children can create their own unique nature wand using simple natural materials- found or resourced in markets and shops. A good stick is needed for the base and embellishments are added such as: feathers, ribbons, yarns, tape, colored rubber-bands, string, moss, botanical bits. It is a fun activity to do with all ages and exercises the continued development of imagination, creativity and connection to nature.
Learning Goals
This project is great to foster eye-hand coordination and is also wonderful to bring focus to developing fine-motor skills. Each child will develop their own unique artistic expression based from the materials they have to work with.

Supply List
I will provide a more detailed suggested supply list in the classroom after enrollment- Simple materials are needed for this project: a stick, a good stick to hold in the hand...rubber bands, ribbons/yarns/twine, tape, cuttings from trees or flowers, herbs from the market, feathers, botanical bits

I have a Master Degree in Early Childhood/Primary Education and a Bachelor Degree in Child Development, active in the field for several decades. I am also a National Geographic Certified Educator, and certified to teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP). Also, I am TESOL certified, teaching English as a Second Language. I am the Founder of Connecting Children to Art in Nature; educational business that offer children and families services to connect to nature in artful and eco-friendly formats and perspectives. I create educational design and curriculum for youth and families for botanical gardens, children's schools, private and public settings, nature centers, as well as lecture in universities and colleges presenting professional development workshops for educators. My class offerings on Outschool are inspired by various pedagogies such as the Reggio-Emilia and Waldorf practices and place-based, best practices in environmental education.
