Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner Level
I have taught this course to students from my school and I am so excited to be able to offer this film class on Outschool!

In this self-paced class, students will learn the filmmaking process, the basics of what goes into each phase of filmmaking (pre-production, production, post-production) and leave with their very own short film.

Students will interact with me through video lessons with embedded activities and questions posted in the classroom.

To get through this course, commit to 1 day each week to do the lesson (about 1 hour) and 1-2 days to do the assignment (this can be 2-4 hours depending on your project and availability).

Do you have a visual learner or a learner with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, or autism? No problem! As a certified special education teacher, I know how to create classes that are supportive and engaging for neurodiverse learners. So if you're ready to have some fun and learn in a way that works best for you, sign up now and let's get started!

That's a wrap!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Depending on their story ideas, learners may need help with creating props, sets, acting, and filming. Nothing elaborate is necessary but I also try to avoid squashing creativity with practicality. I've have students make movies with their dolls when they couldn't get actors together in time. This course uses websites such as Flipgrid and Kahoot. Students may need to set up an account at these sites, or sign on with their google account. We will also be sharing our scripts with each other through Google Docs for peer review / editing. Please ensure that any identifiable information is not given in your child's google user name (such as full name, birthdate, location, ...).
Supply List
I will be providing templates for students to use to create storyboards.
