What's included

Homework
1 hour per week. Learners will complete their own unique horse barn busy book over the course of the flex class.

Class Experience

In this role-playing art class, students will learn to make a horse stable busy book with a professional horse trainer/farm owner.

Week one: Students will tour a real horse barn and learn about the must-have items for caring for animals. Additional photos, reading and video will help illustrate a day in the life of a horse in a barn. Students will interact by sharing their favorite photos, video links and art in the classroom.

Week two: Using a how-to video, students will turn a cereal box into a horse barn with a custom exterior, interior and storage pockets for supplies. Students will share their projects in Flipgrid.

Week three: Students will print downloadable photos of real scenes from around the farm and, using basic craft supplies, students will supply their reusable “barn.” Progress will be tracked in Flipgrid and learners will be encouraged to comment on fellow student’s projects and what they like best and why.

Week four: Students will choose a horse from a variety of downloadable photos and learn about his/her breed, age, size and color. They will print a paper copy of their horse and move them into their “barn.” Students will care for their horse with their “supplies,” and share a photo or video of their completed project with the class in Flipgrid.

Students will leave with their reusable busy book, as well as the knowledge of how a horse is cared for on a daily basis.
