Letters are something from you. It's a different kind of intention than writing an e-mail.
~Keanu Reeves

In this one- time class, we will cover topics like the parts of a letter, how to write a friendly or thank-you note, and creative ways to decorate your letters. Each Zoom class will be interactive, with live demonstrations, step-by-step guidance on writing, and time for you to work on your own letter with feedback. We'll share ideas, and you'll get to see examples, practice writing, and even share your work with the class if you want. It's all about learning, creating, and having fun with your your teacher and classmates online!

But why letter writing?

Learning to write a letter holds significant value in today's fast-paced digital world. It allows for a more personal connection in communication, something that is often missing in emails and text messages.

Through the thoughtful process of composing a letter, one can effectively develop strong written communication skills, which are vital for both academic and professional success. Writing letters also offers a unique space to express deeper emotions and thoughts, helping to foster more meaningful connections with others.

Beyond just communication, the process of writing and decorating a letter encourages creativity and allows for individual expression. Additionally, letter writing teaches the etiquette of formal communication, an important skill for various life situations. Lastly, engaging in this art form helps cultivate an appreciation for historical modes of communication, connecting us with past generations.

Hi there! I'm Lara. My journey in education began at quite a young age, but truly grew at a private Classical School in Seattle, where I cherished every moment as an elementary educator. Today, I've embraced the world of homeschooling and also conduct local and online classes. My passion lies in Elementary education, Journalism, Orchestra, Music History, Theory, leading spirited book clubs and learning together with students – I have a soft spot for the classics! Writing is another joy of mine, and sharing this skill is something I find incredibly rewarding. My academic background is in German and Journalism, (musically: I grew up playing violin and piano and attending my high school for their fine arts endorsement). I'm proud to be a certified teacher in Texas. Above all, I believe in nurturing the understanding that every individual holds immense value – everyone deserves to be seen and heard. I'm excited to explore and learn WITH you! See you in class!
