In this class, we will be learning through play while we use magnetic blocks! I have a mix of Picasso tiles and Magnatiles, but any brand of magnetic blocks will do. We will start by exploring a different STEM topic each week. We will always end the class by building! As your child creates their own unique masterpiece, we will explore new vocabulary words such as "structure", "foundation", and "transparent vs. translucent". Join me for this fun and educational STEM class for young children! week of 4/19/21-- We will explore magnets and use our magna-tiles to make predictions and find magnetic surfaces around our homes. We will end with free building time. week of 4/26/21-- We will explore building concepts and talk about building a firm "foundation" and creating a "structure". We will build houses and towns for our Little People. week of 5/3/21-- We will explore Spatial Awareness by using words like "next to", "under", and "on top of". We will build a zoo or farm for our animal figurines. week of 5/10/21-- We will explore the concept of translcucent vs. tranparent and use a flashlight with our magna-tiles. We will end the class by building towers with our flashlight inside. week of 5/17/21-- We will explore ramps. We will create ramps for our toy cars and experiment with how to make the car go farther. week of 5/24/21-- We will practice drawing our creation before we build it. Let's make a plan! ***This ongoing class will run for six weeks and then it will start over and repeat the same topics***

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. My name is Emily and I am a mom of two. I teach interactive classes geared toward preschool-kindergarten age children. Preschool is an exciting time to lay a strong foundation for future success in school and I am here to help you do that with your child. My background is Early Childhood Education. I have my BA in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education from Northern Kentucky University. I taught preschool in the public school setting for 3 years and now I am an Early Literacy Specialist at a public library. I have a passion for early intervention and believe that students have a better chance at success when they are given the proper materials, experiences, and academic enrichment opportunities as young children. I am excited to share that passion of early learning and development on this platform.
