Let's take a literary trip to Egypt! This summer book club for elementary-aged kids is based on my past, popular Magic Tree House courses. Learners will attend four 45-minute classes over 4 weeks boosting their reading skills through active reading. We'll work on mastering English Language Arts standards for this age range, and will practice discussing literary texts with peers through the Magic Tree House series Book 3, "Mummies in the Morning." Week 1Lesson 1Say Hello, Dive Into Ancient Egypt, and Read the First Few Chapters of the Book!In this intro class, we'll get to know each other and we'll discuss Ancient Egypt. We'll introduce the book and read Chapters 1-2. Students will read Chapter 3 for homework.Week 2Lesson 2Socialize and Share, Read and Discuss, Talk About Ancient Egypt!We'll socialize and share, discuss Chapter 3, talk more about ancient Egypt, and read Chapters 4-5 together. Students will read Chapter 6 for homework.Week 3Lesson 3Share Our Finds, Talk About the Middle of the Book, and Discuss the QuizWe'll socialize and share, discuss Chapter 6, discuss ancient Egypt, and read chapters 7-8 together. Students will take a quiz for homework.Week 4Lesson 4Wrap Up "Mummies in the Morning!"We'll socialize and share, discuss the quiz, Read Chapters 9-10 together, and wrap up the class!

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Central Florida and practical classroom experience as a certified creative writing instructor and ELA instructor for children in elementary school.
