US Grade 4 - 5
This class will meet once weekly for four weeks. Your student will learn how to independently solve long division problems with one-digit divisors. During the first week of class, students will review the concept of division taught in third grade. In the second and third week, students will learn and practice the five steps of long division taught in fourth grade. In the fourth week, students will demonstrate mastery of long division with one-digit divisors. Students will be shown visually how to complete long division problems by the teacher. Then, students will be given the opportunity to solve long division problems with guidance from the teacher. Finally, students will demonstrate their knowledge of long division by completing problems independently. Handouts will be provided before class time. Students should have a basic understanding of division taught in third grade. Students will be allowed to reference a multiplication table if multiplication facts have not been mastered. Students who have mastered dividing by one-digit divisors will be challenged with dividing by two-digit divisors.

Students will complete long division problems with one-digit divisors independently.
