Class Experience

Is your young child in need of a fun math challenges that introduce advanced math topics? Join other young kids in this on-going class to play and solve physical and online puzzles, games, and challenges. We'll explore math concepts like prime numbers, operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), algebraic thinking and patterns, estimating computations, and more. We'll tackle puzzles and play games like becoming "Mathological" detectives solving cases where one of the suspects math doesn't add up, tackle symbol logic puzzles similar to Suduko puzzles, and play coding and algebraic thinking challenges.

This is an on-going class where each class is a stand-alone experience with unique mini-lessons and activities, so even though we may stay on a math topic more than one class you can join anytime!

Students will learn about advanced math concepts such as the following in this class:
- Recognizing, Describing, and Extending Patterns (Fact Families, Digits vs. Place Value, Even and Odd Numbers, Triangular Numbers, Square Numbers, Cube Numbers, Prime Numbers, etc.)
- Equivalent Values and Comparing Values in the form of numbers, money, and pictures/graphs
- Strategic Problem Solving
- Concept and Strategies for Inverse Operations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division)
- Computational Thinking & Coding Logic
- Algebraic and Pattern-Based Thinking

Learning Goals

Besides the following math concepts, students will learn problem solving strategies, how to discuss and listen to different ideas and solutions, and explore how math connects to "real life" situations.
- Recognizing, Describing, and Extending Patterns (Fact Families, Digits vs. Place Value, Even and Odd Numbers, Triangular Numbers, Square Numbers, Cube Numbers, Prime Numbers, etc.)
- Equivalent Values and Comparing Values in the form of numbers, money, and pictures/graphs
- Strategic Problem Solving
