Class Experience

Students will improve their listening skills by following along with the story and following instructions with the craft associated with the story.

Story- The Feels
"Follow Yeti on an emotional journey of self-discovery, as she meets her feelings - scared, mad, sad, worried, and calm - and learns how to take care of them. This moving story helps little ones become more aware of their emotions, recognize them as healthy and normal, and offers tools to help regulate and support them."

"Social and emotional development topics include Emotional Well-being, Emotion Identification, Coping Skills."
I've been working with young children for 15+ years. I currently homeschool my children and we enjoy these types of classes. I've taught classes in homeschooling co-ops and have taught as a summer counselor.
Crafts! Fun crafts for each story read. The children will start their craft after each story.

We will have two crafts for our book, The Feels;

Craft one-The Feels Journal- Create a journal with heavy-duty paper. You can fold it into a book or staple the papers so they are larger, you need at least 3 days worth in your book but I encourage you to make a larger book for long term use. Write or Draw on the title page to represent the journal being a feeling journal.

Craft two- Color in your journal! Take your colors and express yourself, you should have at least 5 different colors. Draw and color a picture at least 3 different times this week expressing how you're feeling those three different times. Grab your book when you're Happy, Sad, Mad, Angry, Excited, Worried...etc. Express yourself and get the feels out! This will help you become centered.
Heavy-duty paper (at least 3 pages) and at least five different colors, the more the better.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Because this is a one time class the parents will look at the children's work to see their progress. Parents can look at the Feeling Journal and see the feelings they have expressed in their artwork. This provides an opportunity for the parents to sit down and discuss the child's emotions, experiences and ways to support each other.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I teach several different Story+Art classes, please make sure to read the titles of the book before registering your student so we make sure they don't repeat the same class :)
