In this class we explore a few simple techniques and color mixing tricks to add depth and richness to your colored pencil drawings. This intermediate class is designed for student artists who have some experience with colored pencils but want to refine their technique. We will practice color/value scales, burnishing, and layering color, and how to add dimension with complementary color shading techniques.Week 2Lesson 2Refining TechniquesStudents will apply what was learned in the last class in drawings of simple shapes and objects, such as spheres, cubes, cones, and create a "draped fabric" look.
As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
Homework Offered
Students may opt to continue practicing techniques and/or begin a final drawing that we will finish together during the last class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Students will need: Paper (quality drawing paper/sketchbook preferred) pencils, eraser, sharpener colored pencils - I highly recommend Prismacolor. This brand is used by professionals like myself and yields the best results. Colorless blender (This is a Prismacolor pencil!) ~optional Black Sharpie (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
