US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
In this one-time class, students will discover an easy way to draw a sleeping cat using simple shapes, identifying circles, triangles and ovals. We will trace our cats with a Sharpie or similar permanent black marker and erase original pencil lines. Next, discuss what patterns are, and trace the cat, bed, and floor line with crayons (to help keep watercolor paints separated later), and color the nose and insides of the cat's ears pink. We will also draw patterns on the wall, bed, floor and the cat itself if desired. Finally, we will select colors of watercolor paint and carefully paint each section.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
