Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Hello Little Adventurers!

In this ongoing class learners will meet weekly to learn about a different feature or place in the world! Each class learners will have a STEAM project that will be completed together relating to the place we are learning about!

What is STEAM?
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math. STEAM lessons and projects like these help children to gain an understanding of the world around us and answer world questions that children may ask, such as, "How do play bears stay warm?" or "Why do we float in the Dead Sea?".

Our classes will be interactive and full of discussions! A typical class may look like:
1. Introduction to the topic - We will look at our topic of the day and the place or places in the world that it relates to.
2. Hypotheses - We will address our question and experiment / project of the day and learners will be encouraged to make predictions.
3. Activity - Learners will complete the activity with the guidance of the teacher.
4. Conclusion - What did we discover from the activity?

Each class requires learners to have the materials to participate in the activity. Material are kept simple and easy to find, with many that you are probably able to find at home. Materials for the next month of classes can be found in the "Learner Supply List" and will also be posted in the classroom. Grownups should stay with their learners during the activity to supervise and support where needed.

Weekly Breakdown:
Week beginning September 26th - How quickly can we melt ice?
Week beginning October 3rd - How do we make a catapult?
Week beginning October 10th - How do hot air balloons fly?
Week beginning October 17th - How do we measure temperature?
